There are a number of tools available to help you migrate custom settings between releases, or to transfer settings from one computer to another.
Tools for Migrating Custom Settings From Previous Releases
The following tools allow you to migrate custom settings and files from a previous release of the program to the current release.
- Migrate Custom Settings Dialog Box. Migrates user profiles, CUI and CUIx files, tool palette (ATC) files, and user-defined linetype (LIN) files, hatch pattern (PAT) files, the acad.pgp (or acadlt.pgp for AutoCAD LT) file, which contains command aliases, and custom materials. (AutoCAD LT does not support user profiles.)
- Customize User Interface (CUI) Editor. Migrates select custom interface elements from one release to another. The CUI Editor converts legacy menu (MNU and MNS) and CUI files to the CUIx format, while leaving the original file unchanged.
- Advanced Tools. Additional migration tools available from the Autodesk website, include the following:
- DWG TrueView. Converts DWG files from one release to another. You can also use the DWGCONVERT command from within the program.
- ScriptPro. Runs a script file on a set of drawings. (Not available for AutoCAD LT.)
- AutoLISP Compatibility Analyzer. Details compatibility issues found in AutoLISP files and the accompanying menu (MNL) files. When a compatibility issue is found, the tool provides an explanation of the issue and suggestions on how to correct it. (AutoCAD LT does not support AutoLISP.)
Note: It is recommended that you migrate your custom settings and files as soon as possible after installing a new product version to avoid overwriting any new customization.
Tools for Transferring Custom Settings Between Computers
The following tools allow you to transfer custom settings and files between computers with the same release of the program.
- Sync My Settings. Syncs custom settings with your online Autodesk account. When using Autodesk 360, you can download settings from your online account to a different computer.
- Export/Import Settings. Creates a transfer package of all your custom settings to import to another computer. You can also use this tool to create a backup of your custom settings.
- Customize User Interface (CUI) Editor. Transfers individual custom settings between different computers.
