New in This Release

The 2017 release of AutoCAD Map 3D contains customer-focused enhancements across the product, including the following specifics.

Multi-function Grips

The editing options have been expanded for these grips, which can be used to reshape, move, or otherwise manipulate line string features. For details see About Multi-function Grips.

Style Editor enhancements

• Default unit in the Style Editor is read from the drawing unit.

  In the Style Point, Style Line, and Style Polygon dialogs for AutoCAD Map 3D, the default Unit value now depends on the drawing unit, and is not always Inches. For example, when the drawing unit is Centimeter, that becomes the default unit in the Style dialogs. Within a session, AutoCAD Map 3D remembers the last used unit and applies it to all drawings until you close and reopen Map 3D.

• Symbol size is consistent with true geometry size.

  Width and height values in Style Point, Style Line and Style Polygon dialogs now reflect the symbol's true geometric size, no longer affected by the thickness and end-cap type.

• Two minor changes appear in the dialog Select a Symbol in the Repository.
  • The Current repository drop-down is disabled in AutoCAD Map 3D.
  • The check box Replace Existing Symbols is disabled in a deselected state if the current thematic rule contains a symbol that was loaded as reference. This situation occurs if you deselect the option Load Symbol as a Copy when loading the symbol.

Command enhancements

The following three commands can now be executed without a user interface:

• MAPSYMBOLIMPORTEXPORT
• TBDMOPEN
• TBDMSAVE

This change makes it easier for you to import or export symbols and update them in the display using a script or other automated process, without having to manually open each symbol. For details, see To Import Symbols, To Export Symbols, and To Update a Display Model with Imported Symbols.

Other improvements

• FDO (feature data object) support is extended to newer versions of Oracle, MySQL and ArcGIS.
• ArcGIS 64-bit provider is supported.
• Issues raised by customers have been fixed in several features, including Style Editor, Label creation, FDO WMS, Forms, and MAPTOACAD.
