Lifecycle Rules Settings (Items)

Note: The Items feature is available only in Autodesk Vault Professional.

A revision is a modification of product data after it is released to manufacturing or other parts of the enterprise. A related concept is version. A version is a sequential number indicating an updated or changed file in the vault.

The administrator can specify a bump revision rule when an item changes state. Specifying a revision action in the Lifecycle Rules dialog box controls how an item's revision changes when the lifecycle state of an item changes.

Note: Users with Item Editor (Level 2) permissions can change the revision of an item that is in WIP or Released state. Right-click an item in the item master, and then select Change revision from the context menu.
Note: Users with Administrator or Item Editor (Level 2) permissions can elect to skip a configured revision bump at the time of a state change.

By default, when an item's state changes from Released to WIP, the revision automatically bumps using the primary revision bump action.

The administrator can specify the type of revision bump performed when a state transitions to another state.
