Note: This feature is available only in Autodesk Vault Workgroup, Collaboration, and Professional editions.
A lifecycle state represents a certain point in the lifecycle of vault data. Common lifecycle states include work-in-progress, review, and released.
You can customize individual state behavior for lifecycle definitions by performing any of these tasks:
- Customize a state name and description
- Modify transition rules
- Configure member security
- Determine purge criteria
- Edit comments regarding state behavior
The tabs in the Lifecycle Details box reflect the values associated with the selected state. Leave the same state selected and switch between the tabs to view all of the details for that particular state. Click through the state list while remaining on the same tab to see the how each state is configured for that particular setting.
Edit the state name and description on the General tab.
Edit a Lifecycle State Name
Every state must have a name in the range of 1 to 255 characters.
Note: Changing the state name does not affect historical files.
- In the Lifecycle Definitions dialog box, select the definition, and then click Edit. The selected definition name appears in the title bar.
- In the Lifecycle states grid, select the lifecycle state.
- On the General tab, select the text in the State Name box, replace it by typing in a new name, and then click OK.
Edit a Lifecycle State Description
- In the Lifecycle Definitions dialog box, select the state that you want to edit and then click Edit. The selected state name appears in the title bar.
- On the General tab, select the text in the State description box and replace it by typing in the revised description
- Click OK. The revised description replaces the previous description in the State description box.
