Export sketch as DXF

Export a sketch as a DXF file and save it to your computer or a project in Fusion.

  1. Open a design that contains a sketch.

  2. In the Browser, locate the sketch you want to save as a DXF.

  3. Right-click the sketch name and select Export DXF.

    The Export DXF setting dialog displays.

  4. Select a unit type to export the DXF in.

    Note: The design's active unit type is the default for the exported DXF.
  5. (Optional) Specify additional Visible Geometry in the sketch to include:

    • Points: Check to include sketch points.
    • Projected Geometry: Check to include projected geometry.
    • Construction Geometry: Check to include construction geometry.
  6. Click OK.

    The Export DXF dialog displays.

  7. (Optional) Enter a new name.

  8. Specify a location to save to.

  9. Click Save.

The sketch is exported as a DXF and is saved to the specified location.

Tips

  • Save a sketch as a DXF for use in different manufacturing methods, such as laser cutting.
  • If you have a body you want to laser cut the profile of, create a sketch on the top or bottom face of the body. The edges of the face are automatically projected into the sketch.
  • Check Save to a Fusion project to save the DXF to save it in the Fusion web client.
