Converting Licenses from AutoCAD Revit Suite to Building Design Suite

Customers on Subscription for AutoCAD Revit Suite products were migrated to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium on January 7, 2013. If desired, migrated customers can convert their network licenses to Building Design Suite Premium in order to use all products contained within their new product entitlement. After this conversion, Revit or AutoCAD sessions consume Building Design Suite (BDS) licenses.

How does licensing for Building Design Suite work?

A network license for Building Design Suite specifies the total number of users that can use one or more of its software products at any one time.

For example, if you purchase 10 network licenses, then no more than 10 users can access any of its software products at the same time. If 7 people are using Revit, and 3 different people are using AutoCAD, together they consume all 10 licenses, and no more licenses are available to others. If 4 people are using both Revit and AutoCAD, then only 4 licenses are in use, and 6 licenses remain available for other users.

How will Building Design Suite licensing work with AutoCAD Revit Suite licenses?

Can I use previous versions of Revit with a Building Design Suite license?

Yes. A Building Design Suite license supports the current version of Autodesk Revit and up to 3 previous versions of Revit software (Revit Architecture, Revit MEP, and Revit Structure), in accordance with the Subscription Previous Version Policy.

Whenever you launch a current or previous version of Revit, it consumes a Building Design Suite license.
