Injection location

Add, remove, or relocate injection locations to address quality issues.

Injection locations are the positions where molten plastic enters the metal injection mold.

The position of an injection location is an important factor in determining an acceptable fill pattern. The optimum injection location creates a balanced filling pattern, allowing the extremities of the mold to fill at the same time and pressure. This will minimize part warpage.

Weld line location can also be adjusted by altering the injection location.

An injection location is represented as a cone on the part surface.

Click Home tab > Set Injection Locations. The Injection Locations tab opens and any existing injection locations will be displayed.

The following options are available.

Move injection location
Select this option and drag the injection location to another position on the part.
Add injection location
Select this option and click on the part surface where you want the injection location to be positioned.
Delete injection location
Select this option and click on the injection cone to be removed.
Finish Injection Locations
Click this option to close the Injection Locations tab and remove injection cone representation from the surface of the part.

For the purpose of generating results such as Fill Animation and weld lines, if an injection location is not specified, a location close to the centroid of the part will be used.

Any adjustment to an injection location can alter the widget results.
