Slave machine additional setup

Once this version of mental ray is installed and running, a service on the machine (the Ray Sat server) waits for rendering tasks from mental ray for Maya on the master machine. The satellite-enabled version of mental ray does not require its own licensing; it is activated through Maya’s licensing.

On the slave machine, the Ray Sat server (service name: mental ray Satellite 3.11.1 for Maya 2014) must be running. To verify that it is running on Windows, follow this procedure.

To verify that Ray Sat server is running (Windows)

Open a Windows command prompt.
Navigate to the bin directory of the mental ray satellite standalone. By default this is C:\Program Files\Autodesk\mrsat3.11.1-maya2014\bin\.
Type the following:
```
raysat2014server
/query
```
A message should be returned that the RaySat2014 Server service is running.

If you do not get this message, make sure that RaySat2014 Server has been installed as a service, and start it from the Services Control Panel (Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Options > Services) or type the following:

raysat2014server
/start
```
