Invalid Serial Number or Invalid Request Code

Symptom or Message: The software installation completes successfully. However, when you try to activate and use the software, one of the following error messages displays:

Invalid serial number
Invalid request code
The serial number you entered is not valid. Try again.

Issue: During the installation process, you entered the product key (or product code) for a suite (such as Autodesk Building Design Suite), instead of the product key for the individual product.

Solution:

  1. In the Autodesk Licensing dialog, click Close.
  2. To temporarily enter trial mode, click Try.
  3. In the Autodesk Revit software, click HelpAbout Autodesk Revit 2014.
  4. Click Product License Information.
  5. Check the value entered in the Product key field.

    You may have entered the product key for the suite instead of the product key for the Revit software. If so, edit the value to enter the Revit product key.

  6. Click Activate to repeat the activation process
