When creating a Revit deployment, you can specify additional files to include with the software installation.
For example, you can do the following:
- Specify script files to include with the deployment.
- Add user files of any format and place them in a specified directory on target computers.
- Add subfolders under the installation folder.
- Add sample files to the same location as program files.
- Add files to the root of the installation directory.
- When implementing Revit Server, specify the rsn.ini file to provide the list of Revit Server Hosts that are available to target computers.
- Replace factory-provided files with your own versions of these files.
Note: To replace a file, add your version of the file with the same name to the correct installation folder.
Before creating a deployment, prepare the files to add. Place them in a location that can be accessed from the computer where you are creating the deployment.
When creating a deployment, specify these files in the Additional Files section of the Create Deployment > Configure <deployment name> page of the Revit installer. See Create a Custom Revit Deployment.
To add files to a deployment
- On the Configure <deployment name> page, click the arrow below the Revit product name to expand the configuration settings.
- Scroll down to the Additional Files section.
- Add a file to the list, as follows:
- In the list, click + to expand the installation directory, navigate to the location where you want the file to reside in the installation, and select the folder.
The selected folder is the target destination for the file to be added.
To add a new folder, navigate to its target destination within the installation directory, select that folder, and click Add Folder. Enter a name for the folder.
To add a drive, click Add Drive. For example, you can add a network share that is commonly available to users. Enter a name for the drive.
If needed, use the Remove button to remove a file, folder, or drive that you added.
Note: If you add a file to an installation folder, and the file has the same name as a factory-provided file in that folder, your version of the file replaces or overwrites the factory-provided file.
- Click Browse, and navigate to the desired file.
- Select the file and click Open.
Repeat these steps for each file to add to the deployment.
