Add image to sketch

  1. Locate the image to add, and then:
    • Start in an active part sketch. On the ribbon 3D Model tab Sketch panel, click Create 2D Sketch, and then click the planar face, or work plane to set the sketch plane. On the ribbon Sketch tab Insert panel, click Image .

      or

    • Start in a drawing sketch. Click Insert, and then select Insert Image. Click the drawing sketch.
  2. In the Open dialog box, browse to the folder where the image file is located, and then click Open.
  3. The cursor is attached to the upper left corner of the image. Click in the graphics window to place the image.
  4. Continue to place images, or right-click and select Done.
  5. If necessary, adjust the position of the image.
    • Click the image and drag to move it horizontally or vertically.
    • Click corners to pivot the image.
    • Click an edge to resize the image. It retains its original aspect ratio .
  6. Click an edge or corner of the image bounding rectangle , and then use constraint and dimension commands to position the image boundary precisely.
  7. (Optional) Right-click the image in the graphics window, or the icon in the browser, to use options in the Image Properties dialog box.
    • If the work plane normal does not face you, you can reverse the image. In the Orientation box, click to rotate right or left, or mirror horizontally or vertically.
    • To make the image transparent, in Transparency, click Use Mask. The mask determines the color of the transparency.
  8. Save the file.
Note: If you selected Link when selecting an image, to retrieve the latest version, in the browser, right-click the image, and select Update.
