Create iFeature

  1. On the ribbon, click Manage tab Author panel Extract iFeature .
  2. On the model or in the browser, select one or more features to extract.
  3. Save the iFeature with a unique name.

Rename an iFeature

  1. In the Extract iFeature dialog box, right-click the top level in the feature tree.
  2. In the edit box, enter a new feature name.

The new name appears in the browser when you place the iFeature, but does not change its saved file name. To make the iFeature easier to use, give similar names to the iFeature file (.ide) and the iFeature.

Note: Do not use spaces and other special characters in the feature name. It is included in the parameter name and can be used in equations when placing the iFeature.

Add or remove parameters from the iFeature

  1. In the Extract iFeature dialog box, click to expand a feature, and then right-click to add or remove all of its parameters from the Size Parameters table.
  2. Right-click individual parameters to add or remove them from the Size Parameters table.

Modify values in the Size Parameters table

  1. Click in the row whose values you want to change.
  2. Click in the Name box to enter a descriptive name for the parameter.
  3. Click in the Value box to override the default parameter (within conditions specified in Limit).
  4. Click in the Limit box, and then click the arrow to view conditions for Value. Select one of the following:
    • None (no restrictions)
    • List (restrict entries to preselected values)
    • Range (set minimum, maximum, and default values)
  5. Click in the Prompt box to enter a descriptive instruction that displays in the dialog box when the iFeature is placed.

Work with Position Geometry

Add or remove geometry in the Position Geometry list:

Rename Position Geometry:

  1. Click in the Name box to enter a descriptive name to identify the Position Geometry.
  2. Click in the Prompt box to enter a description that appears in a dialog box when placing the Position Geometry.

Combine Position Geometry

  1. Right-click the geometry in the Position Geometry list or the Selected Features tree.
  2. Select Combine Geometry.
  3. Select another item in the list to combine with the first.

Make Position Geometry independent

  1. Right-click the shared geometry in the Position Geometry list or the Selected Features tree.
  2. Select Make Independent.
