Replace one or more part faces

You can replace one or more part faces with a surface, a quilt, or single or multiple work planes. The part extends or is trimmed to intersect the new face. The new face is trimmed to match the part.

Note: Work plane extents are infinite regardless of the graphical display.
  1. Create the part whose face is to be replaced.
  2. Create or import a surface or one or more work planes to use as the new face.
  3. On the ribbon, click 3D Model tab Surface panel Replace Face .
  4. Click Existing Faces, and then click one or more part faces to replace.

If desired, select Automatic Face Chain to automatically select all adjacent tangent contiguous faces.

  5. Click New Faces, click a surface, quilt, or one or more work planes, and then click OK.

To edit the new face, right-click the Replace Face feature in the browser, and then select Edit Sketch or Edit Feature. As long as the part completely intersects the new face, the feature updates with the changed values.

When editing a replaced face feature, changing from a single work plane selection to an alternate single work plane selection preserves dependent features. Dependent features are not preserved when changing between single and multiple selections or alternate multiple selections.
