Retaining Ring Groove dialog box

Use the dialog box to enter parameters for the retaining ring feature in Shaft Component Generator.

Access:

Ribbon: Design tab Power Transmission panel Shaft. On the Design tab, select Cylinder in the tree control. In the Section features drop-down menu, select Add Retaining Ring.

Dimensions

Enables Retaining Ring Groove dimensions editing.

Name	Displays the name of the parameter. Name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.
Size	Click the Size field to insert a value. Click Measure from the context menu to measure dimension in the Autodesk Inventor window. Click List Parameters to display list with parameters. Click to select the parameter and insert the value to the Size edit field. Click Values from the context menu to see the list of recommended dimensions.
Description	Displays the description of the parameter. Name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.

Position

Use the drop-down menu to specify how the retaining ring position is measured within the shaft section.

Use the second drop-down menu to select a retaining ring from the Content Center.

Note: To insert standard Retaining Ring from Content Center you must be connected to Content Center. Also, you cannot select component from Content Center if the Custom box is checked..

Measure from first edge	Select to measure the retaining ring position from the left edge of the section.
Measure from second edge	Select to measure the retaining ring position from the right edge of the section.

Preview

Displays schematic image of the retaining ring.

Custom

Uncheck the box to insert your own values.

Note: You cannot edit values that are grayed out. They are calculated automatically.
