Author an iCopy template

The iCopy Author command is used to prepare an adaptive skeletal assembly for use by the iCopy command. Once the assembly has been authored, an iCopy Definition node is added to the browser. Use this node to edit or delete the iCopy information.

  1. Click Manage tab Author panel iCopy Author on the Ribbon.
  2. On the Layout tab, select the adaptive layout part that contains the sketch and parameters to drive the iCopy results.
  3. Select the Geometry tab. You select the geometry used to position the iCopy when it is placed in the target assembly.
  4. For each piece of geometry:
    • Select Click to add.
    • Select the geometry.
    • In the Label field, enter a name for the geometry.
    Note: If you select the wrong geometry, highlight the Point and Label fields then press <Delete>.
  5. Select the Parameter tab. Select parameters to add them to the iCopy template. Selected parameters are available when you place the iCopy template in the target assembly.
  6. Select the parameter in the left browser and click to add it to the browser on the right.
    • You can remove parameters by selecting the parameter in the browser on the right and clicking .
    • Parameters that have been renamed are automatically added.
  7. Select the Document tab. Use this tab to include drawings or presentation files to copy for each iCopy result. Verify the drawing or presentation file is associated to the iCopy template.
  8. For each document to include:
    • Select Click to add.
    • Select the file to include. Available types include drawing file (.idw or .dwg) and presentation files (.ipn).
    • Click Open to include the file with the iCopy.
    Note: Included files are copied with the iCopy assembly and references are updated.
  9. Click OK to complete the iCopy template.
