Autodesk Inventor provides a series of equivalent copy tools so you can create and place multiple
secondary occurrences
of
exclusive tube and pipe components
. Tube and pipe secondary occurrences can be based on either
primary occurrences
or existing secondary occurrences.
Placed secondary occurrences are completely dependent on the associated primary occurrence. They can be constrained as a rigid body but cannot be edited directly. To reuse them for normal edits, use the Make Adaptive command to transition them to new adaptive primary occurrences later.
Copy & Paste
- In the Model browser, select one or multiple exclusive tube and pipe components or existing tube and pipe secondary occurrences and press Ctrl and C.
- Activate the appropriate parent environment to place secondary occurrences, such as master runs assembly to place a pipe run secondary occurrence.
- Click the graphics window and press Ctrl and V.
Drag & Drop
- Activate the appropriate parent environment to place secondary occurrences, such as master runs assembly to place a pipe run secondary occurrence.
- In the Model browser, select one or multiple exclusive tube and pipe components or existing tube and pipe secondary occurrences.
- Drag your cursor to an appropriate position in the graphics window.
In the graphics window, your cursor appears as

- Release the mouse to place secondary occurrences.
Place Component
- Activate the appropriate parent environment to place secondary occurrences.

Start the Place Component command using either of the following ways: - With the top assembly or master runs assembly active, click

Component panel
Place
.
- With the top assembly, master runs assembly, or pipe run active, right-click in the Model browser or graphics window and select Place Component. Ensure your cursor is selecting nothing.
- In the Open dialog box, select one exclusive tube and pipe component for the current active tube and pipe environment, such as a pipe run secondary occurrence if the
master runs assembly
is activated.
- Click Open.
