Use cross-part sketches to create or modify parts

When editing a part in the context of an assembly, geometry from another part can be projected into an active sketch.

  1. Create or edit a part in-context of an assembly.
  2. Create a new sketch or edit an existing sketch.
  3. On the ribbon, click Sketch tab Draw panel Project Geometry , and then select the edge, loop, face, or sketch geometry.

To indicate the new sketch dependency on another part in the assembly, a Reference sketch symbol is nested under the Sketch symbol in the browser.

  4. Use the projected geometry to create a feature.
  5. The new part is adaptive and updates when the parent part changes.
