Convert nonadaptive work feature to adaptive work feature
- Right-click the work feature in the browser or the graphics window, and then select Adaptive.
- On the ribbon, click

- Constrain the work feature to parts in an assembly to make it adapt to changes in the parts.
Use geometry on another component as the origin of work feature
- Open an assembly file containing one or more components.
- In the browser, right-click a part file, and select Edit.
- On the 3D Model tab, click a work feature command, select geometry on another component to position the work feature, right-click, and select Done.
- Use a feature command to create a feature (such as Extrude or Revolve), and then use the work feature as a termination plane or revolution axis.
- Right-click and select Finish Edit.
- Add an assembly constraint to hold the work feature position.
Note: Optionally, use these tips to create adaptive work features:
- Hide work features when they are consumed by another work feature. Click Options to access the Application Options dialog box. Click the Part tab. Select the Auto-hide In-line Work Features option.
- Create in-line work features. For example, click the Point command, right-click, and then select Create Axis or Create Plane. Continue to right-click and create work features until the work point is created.
