Create sketch on face of part

In an assembly, you can create a sketch on the face of any part. Characteristics of the sketch depend on the face you select.

1. On the ribbon 3D Model tab Sketch panel, click Create 2D Sketch .
2. Click the planar face of:
   • An inactive part to create a sketch in the active part on an adaptive work plane.
   • The active part, and then drag to create a sketch on an offset work plane .
   • An inactive part, and then drag to create a sketch on an adaptive work plane and a mate constraint with an offset value.
3. Use commands on the Sketch tab to create sketch geometry, and then click Return to end the sketch.
4. Use commands on the ribbon to create a feature.
