You can copy Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD data to the clipboard and paste into a part, assembly, or drawing sketch.
The copy operation imports AutoCAD data, and places it at the cursor position.
There are three methods for copying AutoCAD geometry into Autodesk Inventor.
- Copy data from within AutoCAD and paste into Autodesk Inventor.
- Open an AutoCAD drawing in Autodesk Inventor, and then copy the .dwg data directly from Autodesk Inventor and paste into the sketch environment.
- Use
Sketch tab
Insert panel
ACAD
.
In AutoCAD, or in an AutoCAD drawing that you open in Autodesk Inventor, select objects to copy, and then press CTRL+C. You can use either Copy or Copy with Base Point:
- In Autodesk Inventor, create, or open a 2D sketch.
- Right-click in the sketch, and select Paste. Alternatively, use
Tools tab
Clipboard panel
Paste
.
- Optional. Right-click in the sketch and select Paste Options.
Note: Available only if the last clipboard data is AutoCAD data.
Specify options, and then click OK to accept the settings and close the dialog box, or click Cancel.
- In the graphics window, click to paste the data. Continue clicking to paste additional copies.
Note: If you paste copied AutoCAD data that includes a base point, clicking in the graphics window places the base point, and the bounding box is offset from the cursor.
- When finished pasting, right-click, and click Done.
