Emboss or engrave feature

  1. Create a part or open an existing part. Click 3D Model tab Sketch panel Create 2D Sketch and then click the planar face or work plane to set the sketch plane.
  2. On the Sketch tab, use commands to create a profile to emboss or engrave.
    • Click Sketch tab Draw panel Text and create sketch text.
    • Click sketch commands and create sketch geometry.

    Right-click, select Done to quit creating the profile, and then right-click and select Finish Sketch.

  3. On the ribbon, click 3D Model tab Create panel Emboss .
  4. Click Profile and select one or more profiles (sketch geometry or text) to emboss or engrave.
  5. Click Emboss from Face, Engrave from Face, or Emboss/Engrave from Plane.
  6. For Emboss from Face or Engrave from Face, set the following:
    • Specify the depth.
    • Click Wrap to Face to wrap the profile on a curved face. Clear the check box to project the image without wrapping.
    • Click Flip to set the direction.
  7. For Emboss/Engrave from Plane, set the following:
    • Specify the degree of taper.
    • Click Flip to set the direction.
  8. Click Color to display the Color dialog box. Click the down arrow to scroll through the list or type the first letter to locate the desired color, then click OK.
  9. Click OK.

Note: If you have difficulty selecting sketch geometry, turn off automatic projection options. Select Options to access the Application Options dialog box, Click the Sketch tab. Clear the check marks on Autoproject edges during curve creation and Automatic reference edges for new sketch.
Tip: Click 3D Model tab Create panel Emboss to apply a bitmap image to a model face.
