Create and replace a copy with the original component

In this streamlined workflow, you select a component, save a copy of that component to disk, and replace the selected component within the assembly with the newly created copy while maintaining all assembly constraints.

1. On the ribbon, click Assemble tab Productivity panel Save and Replace Component .
2. Click to select a component.
3. Optionally, in the Create Part dialog box, modify the name for the copied component.
4. In the Create Part dialog box, click Save to save a copy of the selected file and replace the selected file with the newly saved copy.

   Click Cancel at any time prior to clicking Save to terminate the command and close the dialog box.

Note: To select an alternative folder, use the Save in drop-down selection list on the Create Part dialog box before you click Save.
