By default, Split removes one side of a split part, but you can split a part into two parts, saving each with a unique name.
- Sketch a parting line on a part face.
- Click

Save As
Save Copy As to save the part with the parting line and both halves intact.
- Use the Split command with the Trim Solid method to split the part and remove the selected half.
- Use Save Copy As to save the first half of the part.
- Open the original file, then use the Split command with the Trim Solid method to remove the other half of the part.
- Use Save Copy As to save the second half of the part.
Both halves of the part are now saved in separate files.
Note: Files created with this workflow are not associative to each other or the original source file. Each file is unique. Use the Split Solid method in a multi-body part if associativity is required.
