Set parameters for a bearing selection. Specify the type of bearing and/or filter values for bearing dimensions.
To insert bearings, you must be connected to the Content Center where the bearings are stored. If you are not connected to the Content Center, the drop-down list where you select the bearing is unavailable.
See the Content Center Help, or Manage libraries across design workgroups Help to learn how to use the Content Center.
Access: |
Ribbon: Design tab Power Transmission panel Bearing |
Select the type of bearing. |
|
Click the arrow next to the Family/Category field and the Content Center is opened. Select the bearing. You can also set the Standard and Category filters to find the bearing and narrow selection. |
|
Note: We recommend that you select Family. |
|
Bearing placement |
|
Specifies the placement for the bearing. There are two possible placement controls: |
|
Note: You must specify either both placements or none. |
|
Cylindrical Face |
Select cylindrical face (usually a face of a shaft element). |
Start Plane |
Specifies the start face of a bearing. |
|
Changes the orientation of the bearing. |
Flip Over |
Click to change orientation of the bearing by 180 degrees. The position of the bearing remains the same, it is mated to the same plane. |
Note: You can place the bearing without selected geometry.
|
|
Note: We recommend that you specify the bearing geometry first. Select the shaft cylindrical face and start plane. The list of displayed bearings depends on the selected geometry.
|
On the right side of the Design tab, specifies the range for filter selection of bearing dimensions. You can either enter the values or click the arrow to measure the dimension in the Autodesk Inventor assembly.
When you specify the bearing geometry first, the value for Shaft diameter filter is inserted automatically to the filter edit fields.
There are three possible filter dimensions you can specify:
|
A picture displays the filter dimension you can enter into the filter edit fields. |
You can place the bearing without selected geometry.
It is not necessary to specify any filter dimensions. The generator finds the bearing only if you select the bearing type from the Content Center.
If you decide to enter the filter dimensions, enter the started and ending values of the range. For example, to design a bearing with Inside diameter = 1.875 in., in the filter range field, enter values 1.5 and 2. You can enter the same value for the starting and ending filter value.
List of Bearings
On the lower part of the Design tab the list of bearings matches the specified criteria. In the list, click the appropriate bearing. Your selection is displayed in the field above the selection list. Only then, the OK command is activated and you can insert the bearing to the Autodesk Inventor Assembly.
The list of displayed bearings is also visible in the Calculation tab. If you select one bearing, only that bearing values are transferred to the Calculation tab.
|
Based on the given dimensions, updates the bearing. The command activates if the list does match the Dimension filter. |
Displays the reports about calculation. To open the Summary of Messages areas at the bottom of the tab, double-click the double line at the bottom of the tabs or click the chevron.
Bearings that matches the filter criteria and calculation parameters (Bearing Required Life, for example) are listed in the Summary of Messages area.
