Choose Alias objects for associative import

Once Inventor has identified the Alias objects available in the translated .wire file, you use the Derived Alias dialog box to select the items you want included in your new Inventor file. If you later decide to change the included objects, you can use the Edit Derived Alias dialog box to update your selections.

Derived Alias objects

Before the translation of the Alias .wire file objects into your new Inventor file, you can select the precise items to include. The Derived Alias dialog box is shown once Inventor is ready for you to select your items. By default, all items are selected for inclusion. Click the round status icon to change the derive status of the associated object. You can choose to include or exclude the object or import the object as individual surfaces. To expose the child nodes in the browser, click the plus sign (+) next to the parent node. Likewise, to hide the child nodes, click the minus sign (-).

Edit derived Alias objects

After the Alias .wire file objects are translated, associativity is maintained from the source file to the new Inventor file. Therefore, you can use the Edit Derived Alias dialog box to change which .wire file objects are present in the Inventor file. All items available from the source file are displayed in the browser, along with their derive status. Click the round status icon to change the derive status of the associated object.
