Create Heel

Create a heel by using a template

  1. In the Core/Cavity tab, click Create Heel.
  2. In the Create Heel dialog box, select the Template method.
  3. Select a template from the following types:
    • Rectangle
    • Square
    • Circle
    • Key1-Flat
    • Key2-Flats
    • Slot
    • Rounded Rectangle
  4. In the graphics window, select an Insert.
  5. In the Placement group, select a method to set the position of the template. The following methods are available:
    • Linear

      In the graphics window, select a plane on the insert, and two straight edges as references. Click Direction to set the direction of the references.

      Note: The two straight edges must be perpendicular to each other. They must not be perpendicular to the selected plane.
    • Concentric

      In the graphics window, select a plane on the insert. Click Concentric Reference to select a circle, arc edge, or cylinder face as the reference for the heel.

      Note: The axis direction of the selected object must be perpendicular to the selected plane.
    • UV Values

      In the graphics window, select a plane on the insert. Adjust the UV coordinate values.

  6. In the Extension group, enter the length of the heel.
  7. Set the offset value of the heel using the Offset edit box.
  8. Specify a Direction of the extension:
    • Positive direction
    • Negative direction
    • Both directions ( Disables the Offset edit box).
  9. To rotate the template, enter a rotation angle.
  10. Optionally, select Clearance to set the clearance parameters in the Parameters list.
  11. Click Apply or OK.

Create a heel by using the thicken method

  1. In the Core/Cavity tab, click Create Heel.
  2. In the Profile group, select Thicken.
  3. In the graphics window, select an Insert.
  4. Click Select Face to select a planar face on the insert as the start plane on which to extrude the heel. The edges of the face are projected to a coplanar 2D sketch of the face.
  5. In the Thickening group, enter the offset value of the profile of the heel in the Thickness edit box.
  6. In the Extension group, enter the length of the heel in the Distance edit box.
  7. Enter the offset value of the heel in the Offset edit box.
  8. To set the direction of the extension, click one of the following Direction buttons:
    • Positive direction
    • Negative direction
    • Double direction: If you select Double direction, the Offset edit box is disabled.
  9. Optionally, select Clearance to set the clearance parameters in the Parameters list.
  10. Click Apply or OK.

Edit a heel

  1. In the Mold Design browser under Inserts, right-click a heel node, and then click Edit Feature.
  2. In the Create Heel dialog box, modify the parameters.
  3. Click OK.
