Part Properties

Adds, modifies, and removes properties on selected electrical parts and electrical part occurrences.

Access:

There are three ways to access part properties:

  • While defining pins, click Harness Properties on the Pin Name dialog box.
  • While editing parts in place after the harness assembly has been added, click 3D Model tab Harness panel Properties .
  • Select a part, right-click, and then select Harness Properties.

General tab

Displays the part name, part number, and reference designator.

Part Name

Displays the part name, which is the Autodesk Inventor file name. This setting cannot be edited within Cable and Harness properties.

Part Number

Displays the part number, which is the Autodesk Inventor part number. This setting cannot be edited within Cable and Harness properties.

RefDes

Sets an unique identifier that maps the part to the schematic design. The RefDes is optional at the part level, but required for each part occurrence.

Gender

Displays the appropriate gender information of male, female, or none for a connector. This is especially important when exporting data as .xml to AutoCAD Electrical.

Custom tab

Sets the name, data type, and value for custom properties.

Name

Displays the entered property name. Click in the input area to enter a new property, or if available, click the arrow to select from the list.

Type

Data type for the selected property. Click the arrow to select an appropriate data type from the list.

Value

Enter a value for the selected property, if desired.

Add

Adds a new property to the list.

Modify

Changes the selected property's name, type, or value.

Delete

Removes the selected property from the list.
