Once a Level of Detail representation is created and saved in a subassembly, it can be activated in any consuming assembly.

An assembly can associatively call upon a Level of Detail representation in a nested subassembly at any depth in the assembly hierarchy. All Level of Detail settings below the nested subassembly occurrence are driven by the subassembly's representation.
Note: After you define one or more Level of Detail representations in a subassembly, it can be activated from within an assembly that consumes the subassembly. You must create a Level of Detail representation in the subassembly file. It cannot be created in a consuming assembly file.
Create a Level of Detail representation in a nested subassembly:
- Click Open, and browse to the assembly file to open.
- Double-click to open the subassembly.
- Expand the Representations folder and the Level of Detail folder.
