Mechanical Desktop Import Destination Options dialog box

The Import Destination Options specify Autodesk Inventor file options, file location, and templates to use when translating a Mechanical Desktop file into Autodesk Inventor files. Click Finish to accept defaults or set individual options.

Access:

Click Open and select the file. Then click Options, and select Import, and click OK. Click Open to start the DWG File wizard.

Assembly Options

Accept Referenced components only or select All Component Definitions.

Part Options

Accept As Features and then specify how to translate parts with unsupported features. Optionally, select Translate Body Only.

Drawings with Views Options

Accept Selected and External Files or select Selected File Only.

Mechanical Symbols

Specifies method to map symbols.

Map all to single view sketch imports all symbols as simple geometry into one single sketch.

 

Map to individual sketch symbols imports symbols as simple geometry into discrete sketch symbols. Select the Native FCFs, Surface Textures and Datum IDs check box to import feature control frames, surface textures, and datum IDs as native Inventor symbols.

Output Options

Specifies what to do if a duplicate output file is found. Accept Overwrite or select Use Existing File (to retain existing data).

Import File Units

Select Detected Units or Specify Units.

Detected Units is based on the block insert units (INSUNITS) system variable in the DWG file. If this value is unitless or set to an unsupported unit, the value of the MEASUREMENT variable (inch or mm) is used.

Specify Units specifies conversion units from the list.

Templates

Specifies the default templates you accept, or templates you browse to and select.

Destination Folder

Specifies the default destination folder you accept, or a different folder you browse to.

Save Configuration

Specifies a configuration you browse to and select, if needed.
