The Design Doctor diagnoses sick relationships and identifies the components and relationships where the failure occurs. The Design Doctor offers several methods to help you resolve the error.
An application option activates analysis that helps isolate components with relationships that participate in a relationship error.
- On the ribbon, click
Tools tab
Options panel
Application Options
. On the Assembly tab, select the Enable related relationship failure analysis check box.
- In the browser, right-click a relationship marked with either the or the symbol and select Recover to open the Design Doctor.
- Select a treatment option.
- Edit Relationship opens the relationship dialog box used to create the connection.
- Delete Relationship deletes the relationship. If other relationships are associated with the deleted relationship, additional errors can require resolution.
- Suppress Relationship suppresses the relationship. If other relationships are associated with the suppressed relationship, additional errors can require resolution.
- Isolate and Edit Relationship turns off visibility of components so that you can see the affected relationship to edit.
- Isolate Related Failed relationships identifies all relationships and components that can cause the relationship failure. The visibility of the remaining components is turned off.
- Diagnose the Relationship displays the Relationship Conflict Analysis dialog box. You can break conflicting relationships to determine which ones require deletion or editing.
- For treatments that open the Edit Relationship dialog box, evaluate the relationships and geometry to determine where the error lies and adjust relationship settings as needed.
Tip: Use Isolate Related Failed relationships to run additional analysis to identify participants in the relationship error. Only affected components are visible.
- For treatments that open the Relationship Conflict Analysis dialog box, you can change the status of relationships, and toggle the grounded status of components. You can test the changes to determine whether they resolve the relationship conflicts.
- If additional treatments are needed, repeat this procedure and further evaluate the cause. Adjust relationships as necessary.
Note: If relationship errors remain, you can run the Design Doctor analysis again. When you choose the Isolate Related Failed relationships treatment again, different components can become visible.
