Alter snap behavior in Grip Snap

You can alter the default snap behavior with the SHIFT and CTRL keys.

Use SHIFT to keep the current previewed snap, including when you move the cursor away from the target geometry.

To preview a point-line snap:

  1. Select the point as the grip.
  2. Select Free Drag.
  3. Move the cursor over a linear edge.
  4. Hold down SHIFT, and drag the point along the edge line beyond the edge endpoints without deselecting the snap.

The current previewed snap is retained rather than defined by geometry the cursor is held over.

Use CTRL to disable snapping when you need an imprecise drop of the geometry you drag.
