Work with AutoLimits

Use options on the context menu in the browser to edit AutoLimits.

Use browser context menu options to edit AutoLimits in Part, Assembly, Weldment assembly, 2D Sketch, 3D Sketch, and Sheet Metal (except flat patterns).

Tip: Ensure that the selection filter is set to Feature Priority to ease selection of the AutoLimits glyphs. On the Quick Access toolbar, on the Select drop-down menu, click Feature Priority.

Copy AutoLimits

You can use AutoLimits in multiple group folders.

  1. Create a group folder.
  2. Right-click an AutoLimits browser node, and click Copy AutoLimits.
  3. Right-click a group folder in the browser, and click Paste AutoLimits.

Delete AutoLimits

In the AutoLimits browser:

Delete individual AutoLimit:

Delete all AutoLimits in category group:

Delete all AutoLimits in user-defined group:

Note: Right-click the top AutoLimits node, and click Delete to delete all individual AutoLimits in the browser and all user-defined groups. All other category groups remain in the browser.

Edit AutoLimits

Redefine both the geometry to monitor, and its boundary range.

  1. Right-click an AutoLimits node and select Edit AutoLimits.
  2. In the AutoLimits dialog box, redefine the geometry to monitor.
  3. On the Boundary tab, you can:
    • Change Lower or Upper to reset the lower and upper limits.
    • Click to add another boundary.
    • Right-click in a row and delete a boundary.
    • Select a row and click Level to change to a different boundary type (acceptable, warning, or serious warning).
  4. On Display Precision, click the arrow to select a new precision level.
  5. Click OK to close the dialog box

AutoLimits visibility

You can turn visibility Off for AutoLimits that have visibility turned On in the AutoLimit Settings. If visibility is set to Off in the settings, you cannot switch it On in the browser.

  1. If necessary, click Inspect tab AutoLimits panel AutoLimits Settings and turn on visibility.
  2. Right-click a node in the AutoLimits browser and select Visibility. Only the selected AutoLimit is affected.

To avoid clutter in the graphics window, AutoLimits display only at the level where you create them. For example, parts AutoLimits are not visible in an assembly.

Refresh AutoLimits

When Realtime Refresh is on, the system monitors and updates changes to AutoLimits.

In large assemblies with several AutoLimits, you do not want to refresh AutoLimits constantly. Turn off Realtime Refresh, and manually update AutoLimits.

  1. Right-click the top-level AutoLimits node in the browser and clear the checkbox for Realtime Refresh to turn off.
  2. Repeat the select Realtime Refresh to turn on.
Tip: You can keep Realtime Refresh turned off, but update all AutoLimits to see if any of your changes fall outside of acceptable limits. To refresh all AutoLimits at once, click Inspect tab AutoLimits panel Refresh .

Create group for related AutoLimits

You can create a special AutoLimits folder called a group. To control visibility of related AutoLimits, use a group.

  1. Right-click the top node in the AutoLimits browser, and select Create Group.
  2. A group folder is created at the bottom of the browser tree. Then, you can:
    • Copy AutoLimits. Right-click an AutoLimit node and select Copy. Right-click the group folder and select Paste.
    • Change visibility. Right-click the group node and select Visibility to turn on or off all AutoLimits in the folder.

Expand or collapse all children in browser

You can expand or collapse the AutoLimits browser tree.

  1. To show all boundary settings for each limit type (OK, Warning, and Serious Warning), right-click an AutoLimits node, and select Expand All Children.
  2. To hide boundary settings, right-click an AutoLimits node, and select Collapse All Children.
