Change the display of the assembly browser

Use the View menu and Filter on the Assembly browser toolbar to configure the assembly browser to perform a set of related tasks. Regardless of whether you display contents in Assembly or Modeling View configuration, you can hide or show Work Features, Notes, Documents, and Warnings and choose to display Children Only, instead of the entire assembly tree.

The difference between the browser configuration for Assembly and Modeling Views is:

Assembly

  • Assembly relationship symbols are placed in a folder at the top of the browser tree and nested below both related components.
  • Part features are hidden.

Modeling

  • Assembly relationship symbols are placed in a folder at the top of the browser tree but are not nested below the related components.
  • Part features are nested below parts, just as they are in a part file.

Set browser display options:

  1. Select the Assembly or Modeling View from the menu at the top of the browser to arrange the browser contents according to the tasks perform.
  2. Click Filter to hide the following options or clear the check mark to display them:
    • Hide UCS
    • Hide Work Features
    • Hide Notes
    • Hide Documents
    • Hide Warnings
  3. In the Filter menu, select Show Children Only to hide the top-level assembly. Clear the check mark to show the entire assembly hierarchy.
  4. Select Show Extended Names in the Filter menu to display detailed information about part features.

Extended feature names are available in the Part, Sheet Metal Part, Assembly Modeling View, and Drawing environments. Format or content of extending strings cannot be changed.

  5. Show Me how to display feature details in the browser
