Plastic Part

The Plastic Part command places one or more parts into a Mold Design project.

Place a plastic part

  1. In the Mold Layout tab, click Plastic Part.
  2. In the Plastic Part dialog box, browse to locate the plastic part file.
  3. Select an .ipt file and click Open.
  4. Right-click to select an alignment option, left-click to place. Alignment options are:
    • Align with Part_Centroid
    • Align with Part_CSYS (coordinate system)
    • Align with Work Reference
    • Note: A Work Reference can be a UCS or Work point.
  5. Optionally, click OK in the File Naming dialog box.
Note: You can repeat the previous steps to place multiple parts into a family mold design.

Show me how to align the plastic part

Place a multi-body part

  1. In the Mold Layout tab, click Plastic Part.
  2. In the Plastic Part dialog box, browse to locate the plastic part file.
  3. Select a multi-body part file, and then click Open.
  4. Click OK. The Derive Plastic Part dialog box is displayed.
  5. To add a new plastic part to the Plastic Part(s) list click Click to add. The new plastic part is given a default name, and is selected automatically.
  6. To rename a part, right-click the plastic part in the list, and then click Rename.
  7. To delete a part, right-click the plastic part in the list, and then click Delete.
  8. From the Solid Bodies Selection list, select the required solid bodies for the selected part.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Right-click to select an alignment option, left-click to place. Alignment options are:
    • Align with Part_Centroid
    • Align with Part_CSYS (coordinate system)
    • Align with Work Reference
    • Note: A Work Reference can be a UCS or Work point.

Delete a plastic part

  • In the Mold Design browser, right-click the plastic part node, and then click Delete.
