Move wire occurrences

From within a harness assembly, a routed or unrouted wire can have one or both of its ends reterminated to different pins on either connectors or splices. The route state, display status, and any occurrence level properties that were added to the wire remain unchanged.

Dangling wires remain visible in the graphics window and the browser updates to indicate the dangling status.

  1. From the browser or graphics window, select the wire to move, right-click, and then select Edit Wire.
  2. In the Edit Wire dialog box, click the pin to change (Pin 1 or Pin 2).
Tip: Pause the cursor over the Pin selection commands to view a tooltip displaying the RefDes and pin Name for that pin.
  3. To preview the wire before selecting, pause the cursor over the new pin. The wire is drawn as a straight line between the two pins.
  4. Select the new pin:
    • To select a connector pin, click the pin in the graphics window.
Note: If you cannot select the connector pin in the graphics window, set Select command to Select sketch elements.
    • To select a splice pin, click the splice in the graphics window, and then click the desired splice pin in the Select Splice Pin dialog box. Click OK.
  5. To create the wire in the new location, click Apply.

The wire is redrawn and the length is updated.

  6. Optionally, continue changing pin connections on the same wire.
  7. Click OK.

To close the dialog box without reterminating the selected wire, press ESC or click Cancel.
