A 2D sketch created on a folded sheet metal part can be copied to the flat pattern of the part. Any images or blocks embedded within the sketch are also copied. If the flat pattern does not exist, the sketch will be copied as soon as the flat pattern is created.
Before a sketch can be copied to a flat pattern, it must meet the following conditions:
In previous versions of Inventor, deleting a flat pattern also deleted any sketches created on that pattern. Now, even if the flat pattern is deleted, the sketch is automatically copied when the flat pattern is re-created.
As unconsumed sketches, copied sketches are exported with the flat pattern during a DWG/DXF translation.
