Record a simulation

When you are satisfied with a simulation , use this function to record the simulation results displayed in the graphics window in an .avi file. This method of recording the simulation uses the standard Inventor rendering method common to the graphics window.

  1. On the ribbon, click Dynamic Simulation tab Animate panel Publish Movie .
  2. Use the Create AVI Animation dialog box to create a file for your AVI.
    • In the Save in field, specify the name of the folder where you want to save the file containing the simulation AVI file.
    • In the File name field, enter the name of the file where you want to save the AVI file.
    • In the Save as type field, enter the extension for the file.

      The default extension is .avi.

    • Click OK.

      The Video Compression dialog box opens.

  3. Use the Video Compression dialog box to specify the codec you want to use.
    • Unless you have another codec you prefer to use, accept the default.

      The default codec is Cinepak codec by Radius.

    • If necessary, use the indicator bar in the Compression Quality field to change the compression quality.

      Accept the default unless you are experienced in creating AVI files.

    • Do not click Configure unless you are experienced in creating AVI files.
    • Click OK.
  4. Click Run to begin or replay the simulation.
  5. When the simulation ends, click Create AVI again to stop recording.
