Use the browsing tools in the Place from Content Center or Content Center Editor dialog box to locate a part or feature family in Content Center.
To customize the browsing environment, select appropriate panels (Tree View, Table View). Then choose the appropriate view (Thumbnail, List, Detailed List) in the View menu or on the toolbar.
The Category View panel displays available categories. When you select a category, its descendent categories or part (feature) families are listed in the Categories and Family Collection panel on the right. You can expand and select categories in the Category View panel. Another method is to double-click the categories on the List panel to display the descendent categories or part (feature) families.
Note: A part (feature) family is a group of parts (features) that use one geometrical model but have different parameters. A category is a logical grouping of part (feature) types.
- If the Category View panel is not displayed, click Tree View on the toolbar.
- To select the viewing mode, click Views on the toolbar, and select a view type from the list. The List View mode is faster, but the Thumbnail View mode is more descriptive.
- Browse in the library until you get to the appropriate part (feature) family:
- Double-click a category to display its descendent categories or families.
- Click Back to return to the previously displayed list.
- Click Forward to display the forward list.
- Click Up one Category to move up one level in the category structure.
- Select the family and perform the appropriate operation.
Tips:
- Customize and use the Detail List view: In the Content Center dialog box, click View Detail List on the menu. Then right-click a column heading on the Detail List table and click Customize. In the Customize selection dialog box, select family properties to display in Detail List and click OK.
- To make the navigation faster and more convenient, add the frequently used parts, features, and part (feature) families to the Favorites list.
- Use Search to find parts that correspond to appropriate parameters.
- Apply a filter to the library to exclude categories, manufacturers, or international standards from the view.
- Content Center Editor only: Click the down-arrow next to Library View to select a library to display (and edit), or to display the Merged View of all libraries.
