Work with tasks in Task Scheduler

Configure Task Scheduler columns

  1. In the Task Scheduler window, main menu, click Settings Column Chooser.
  2. Use Add and Remove to adjust the list of columns to use.
  3. Use Move Down and Move Up to arrange the order of the columns. The column at the top of the list appears first in the Task Scheduler window.

Delete tasks

  1. In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, task list, select one or more tasks. Right-click the selected task or tasks and click Delete.

    or

    In the Sequential Task dialog box, select one or more tasks. Click Delete.

  2. In the Delete Confirmation dialog box, click OK.

    The task or tasks are deleted.

Edit tasks

  1. In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window or the Sequential Task dialog box, double-click a task in the task list.

    The corresponding Edit Task dialog box is displayed.

  2. Enter changes.
  3. Click OK.

    The task information is updated and is displayed in the task list.

Enable or disable tasks

If a task is enabled, it runs as scheduled or you can click Immediately and run the task as soon as you click OK.

If a task is disabled, it does not run.

  1. In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, task list, select a task.
  2. Right-click the selected task, and click Enable or Disable.

    The task is put on or taken off the schedule of tasks to run.

Pause or terminate the task that is running

  1. In the Task Scheduler main window, right-click the task that is running, and click either Stop or Pause.
  2. If you click Stop, the task is terminated and stops running immediately.

    If you click Pause, the task stops running after completing the current process.

Refresh tasks

In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, right-click, and click Refresh.

On the main menu, click View Refresh.

Reuse tasks

  1. In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, task list, right-click an existing task, and click Enable. If the task does not have an owner, the Authentication dialog box displays. Enter your Windows log in name and password, and become the owner.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Right-click the task, and click Run. The task runs immediately.
    • Edit the schedule to a future time. The task runs at the scheduled time.
    • Select Immediately. The task runs when you click OK.

Run multiple processes

  1. In the Task Scheduler main menu, click Settings Multiple Processes.
  2. To turn on the functionality, click Activate Multiple Processes.
  3. In the Multi-Process dialog box, specify the number of processes you want to run. The number can be from 1 to 16, regardless of the number of processors available.
  4. Select Abort when Physical Memory is reached.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Now create a task of your choice, and it runs with the multiple processes you specified.
    Note: Multiple Processes remains active in the current session unless you turn it off manually.

Run tasks immediately

  1. In any task manager dialog box with an enabled task selected, select Immediately.
  2. Click OK.

    The task runs immediately.

Note: You can use the Task Scheduler while you run Autodesk Inventor. For optimal performance, close all Autodesk Inventor sessions before you run a task, and do not start a session while a task is running.

See today's tasks

In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, right-click, and click Today's Task.

or

On the main menu, click View Today's Task.

Tasks that ran, are running, or were scheduled today, including repetitive tasks, display.

Sort tasks

In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, right-click, and click sort by Next Run Time, or Sort by Name.

or

On the main menu, click View Sort by Next Run Time, or Sort by Name.

The tasks sort according to the option you select.

Specify log files for tasks

Set the default log file.

  1. In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler main menu, click Settings Options.
  2. In Options dialog box:
    • Enter a path and the name of an existing folder.

      If the folder name does not exist, a warning is displays so that you can create the folder.

    • Click OK.

Change the default log file.

  1. In any task manager dialog box, Log File, enter an existing file path and name. Alternatively, click Browse to find and select an existing file. If the log file does not exist, it is created in the folder you specify.

    Overrides the log file specified in the Task Scheduler window in Settings Options Log File Options.

    To specify no log file, clear the checkbox.

View task reports

  1. In the Autodesk Inventor Task Scheduler window, task list, select a task.
  2. Right-click the selected task, and click Create Report.
  3. In the Task Report dialog box:
    • Enter a report name.
    • Browse to a folder where you want to save the report.
    • Select or clear the option Open report on save.
    • Click OK.

    The task report is displayed in a Microsoft Internet Explorer window. The report includes the task name and type, the schedule, enable or disable, and a log of the files with status.
