Add or edit fold occurrence properties

Ribbon cable fold occurrences inherit the general properties of the folds that were created at the library level, as well as unique occurrence properties that are stored within the assembly in which the fold is placed. When specific properties are needed for the occurrence in an assembly, you can override the property value with an occurrence property value.

Property data can be added or modified on the fold. For a fold, only the Fold Name is required at the occurrence level. All other properties are optional.

In the Fold Properties dialog box, custom properties added to the fold are displayed with a dark background. Library properties on the ribbon cable can be replaced on the occurrence, and then restored to their original library-level value as needed.

Add or override fold properties

  1. In the browser, double-click the harness assembly.
  2. In the browser, right-click the fold, and then select Harness Properties from the context menu. You can also double-click the fold in the browser to display the Properties dialog.
  3. In the dialog box, change the Fold Name if appropriate.
  4. Click the Custom tab to add new properties or modify existing properties.
    • To add new properties, enter a Name, Type, and Value, and then click Add.
    • To modify existing properties, select the property to modify, change the settings as needed, and then click Modify.

Restore library-level properties on the occurrence

If a property value is overridden on the ribbon cable occurrence, the library-level value appears in the lower-left side of the dialog box. If the value differs from what is displayed in the table, it has been overridden. You can restore this value if appropriate.

  1. In the browser, double-click the harness assembly.
  2. In the graphics window, right-click the ribbon cable occurrence, and then select Harness Properties from the context menu.
  3. Select the Custom tab and select any custom property displayed with a dark background.
  4. Right-click and select restore.
  5. Click Apply to continue restoring library-level properties or OK to finish.
