Calculate tolerances

  1. On the ribbon, click Design tab Power Transmission panel Tolerance Calculator .
  2. In the Dimensions List area, click "Click to add a dimension" to add dimension.
  3. Click to specify tolerance.
  4. Click to set the type of element within the chain.
  5. Click Calculate.

These procedures create an example using the sample specifications:

Linear dimensional analysis - Design calculation

Sample Data:

  1. Design tolerance of one element in chain. Tolerance of closing element is known.
  2. Bearing width B = 18 ( +0 / -0.12 )
  3. Retaining ring width s = 1.75 h11
  4. Required assembly clearance v = 0.15 up to 0.35 (Closing)
  5. Groove distance on shaft A = ? (Resultant)
  6. Click Calculate to calculate tolerance. A = 20 ( -0.08 / -0.1 )

Linear dimensional analysis - Check calculation

Sample Data:

  1. Tolerance of closing element is a result. Good for validity check of designed tolerances.
  2. Bearing width B = 18 ( +0 / - 0.12 )
  3. Retaining ring width s = 1.75 h11
  4. Groove distance on shaft A = - 20 (- 0.08 / - 0.1 )
  5. Resultant assembly clearance v = ? (Resultant, Closing)
  6. Click Calculate to calculate tolerance. v = 0.25 ( +0.1 / -0.1 )
