Automatic Joint Creation

By default, Dynamic Simulation automatically converts assembly constraints to joints for assemblies created in the Autodesk Inventor 2008 or later releases. The Dynamic Simulation browser lists two joints: a revolution joint between the cam and the support, and a prismatic joint between the valve and the support.

To complete the mechanism, you manually add a spring joint and a 2D contact joint.

Tip: Automatically created joints are maintained in the Standard Joints folder. Joints that you add otherwise, reside in other folders based on the joint type.
Tip: To delete automatically created joints, on the ribbon click Dynamic Simulation tab Manage panel Simulation Settings , and then remove the checkmark next to Automatically Convert Constraints to Standard Joints. Click No, when prompted, and click OK or Apply in the dialog box.
