In this procedure, you move or rotate a component using reference geometry.
On the ribbon, click Assemble tabPosition panelGrip Snap.
In the graphics area, click an edge on an assembly component, which selects it as the basis of the translation or rotation.
The move options bar is displayed representing the possible manipulations for your selection. Pass the cursor over the icons to see descriptive tooltips for them.
On the move options bar, click Move along ray using reference geometry, or Rotate about line using reference geometry.
The Heads Up Display (HUD) cues you for the next action, and reports the available degrees of freedom for the selected line.
Select two points to define the offset for the transition or the angle for the rotation.
The geometry involved is displayed in green as transient constraints are generated between the referenced geometry.
Click to complete the translation or rotation.
To continue the Grip Snap session, select another entity to move or rotate.
When you are finished with Grip Snap, right-click and select Done. If you want to move and ground the entities manipulated in the session, select Commit and Ground.
