Click
3D Model tab
Surface panel
Extend
to make surfaces larger in one or more directions. You can extend surface edges and one or more individual edges of a quilt. You can extend only boundary edges.
Note: You cannot extend part faces using Extend Surface.
It is a good practice to use Distance termination extent when possible. If the model changes, and you have terminated on a specific face that no longer exists, the extension must be recreated. By specifying a specific distance, the extension remains intact.

- On the ribbon, click
3D Model tab
Surface panel
Extend
.
- Click the individual surface edges to extend. All edges must be on a single surface or quilt. Clear current selections to select a new surface.
Note: A nonspline face that does not fully intersect the extended face is extended automatically.
- Under Extents, click the down arrow, and then select the method to terminate the extension.
- For Distance, enter the distance of the extrusion or drag the direction arrow.
- For To, click the End termination surface or plane. Once you select the termination surface, optionally, clear the check box to terminate to the entire surface body rather than just the selected face.
- Optionally, click More to determine how the edges are extended based on adjacent edges.
- Click Extend to create the extension using the curvature of adjacent edges.
- Click Stretch to create the extension with straight lines from the adjacent edges.
- If the preview is as expected, click OK.
