The Create Mold Design dialog box specifies the file name and location of the mold design.
Each new Mold Design assembly is created from a template file named Mold Design.iam. This template file is located in the Templates folder in the Default Templates location.
Create a mold design from a file on disk
To design a mold, first create a Mold Design project file in which all design elements are stored.
- In the Get Started tab, click New.
- In the New File dialog box, select the English, Metric, or Mold Design tab.
- Double-click the required Mold Design.iam.
- In the Create Mold Design dialog box, accept the default file name, or enter another file name.
- In the Mold Design File Location, accept the default location or browse to select a location on the local drive.
- If necessary, select Interactive Tutorials to guide new users.
- Click OK.
- In the Mold Layout tab, click Plastic Part to browse to an existing plastic part file.
Create a mold design from an active part file
It is good practice to create and activate a mold design project file before you open any documents.
- Create or open a plastic part file.
- When the design is complete, click the Tools tab.
- In the Begin panel, click Create Mold Design.
- In the Create Mold Design dialog box, accept the default file name, or enter another file name.
- In the Mold Design File Location, accept the default location or browse to select a location on the local drive.
- If necessary, select Interactive Tutorials to guide new users.
- Click OK.
- Left-click to place the plastic part, or right-click to choose an alignment option before you place the part.
