Create sketch in assembly file

Create a sketch that resides in the assembly file, but is not one of its components. In the browser, the sketch icon is nested under the Origin folder of the top-level assembly.

1. If necessary, use 3D Model tab Work Features panel Plane to create a work plane.
2. On the ribbon 3D Model tab Sketch panel , click Create 2D Sketch .
3. Click the planar face of a part or a work plane to create the sketch plane.
4. Use commands on the Sketch tab to create sketch geometry, and then click Return to end the sketch.
5. Use commands on the ribbon to create a feature.
