Use Content Center Search

You can perform a quick search, or choose Advanced Search to specify searched text for Family Name, Description, Part Number, Standard, and Material separately. You can create a comprehensive search condition on the Advanced Tab.

After searching is finished, families that match the search criteria are displayed.

Note: The time needed for searching depends on the amount of data included in the Search and on the accessibility of servers.

Tips

Quick Search

Use Quick Search to find families with a specific string in the Family Name, Description, Part Number, and Standard property. All available content is included in the search.

  1. In the Place from Content Center or Content Center Editor dialog box, click Search to display the Quick Search bar.
  2. Enter a string in the Search For text field. You can also select a previously used string from the drop-down list.
  3. Click Search Now.

Advanced Search

  1. In the Place from Content Center or Content Center Editor dialog box, click Search, and click Advanced Search on the Quick Search bar.
  2. (Content Center Consumer dialog box only) From the Look For list, select Families to look for component families. Or, select Members to find all family members (parts) that match the searching criteria.
  3. Click Categories and specify categories to include in the search:
    • On the Choose Categories dialog box, select categories to include in the search.
    • Select Search Subcategories to include also families from all subcategories of the selected categories. Clear the Search Subcategories box to include only families stored directly in the selected categories.
    • Review the list of the selected categories at the bottom of the dialog box. Then click OK to confirm the selection and to close the Choose Categories dialog box.
  4. To use the basic version of Advanced Search, on the Basic tab, select a family property and specify text to be searched for. To narrow the search, select more properties and enter the appropriate text to be searched for.
  5. To use full version of Advanced Search, on the Advanced tab, create conditions to search on:
    • Click the Parameters drop-down arrow to select a Category parameter to include in the search criterion.
      Note: Only category parameters common for all selected categories can be used for searching.
    • Click the Conditions drop-down arrow to select a conditional statement from the Condition list.
    • Enter the value to add to the condition. Enter a value with the unit for numeric values. If the unit is not specified, centimeters are used as the default unit. If you select the In List operator, use a semicolon to separate individual values. If you select Material as Parameter, click next to the Value field to select materials from the list.
    • Click Add to list to add a criterion in the list of search criteria. If more search criteria are added in the list, the search combines the criteria and performs an AND search.
    • To remove a search criterion, highlight the criteria and click Remove.
  6. Click Search Now. The results of the search are displayed at the bottom of the dialog box.
  7. Click Move to Content Center to display the Search results in the Content Center dialog box and to close the Advanced Search dialog box.
