Set BOM Structure property in bills of materials

Set BOM Structure using BOM Editor

  1. On the ribbon, click Assemble tab Manage panel Bill of Materials .
  2. In the Bill of Materials dialog box, click the BOM structure value to be changed.
  3. Select the new value for BOM Structure from the list.
  4. After all edits are finished, click Done to close the Bill of Materials dialog box.
Note: The change is saved in the corresponding file and can be viewed or edited in the Document Settings dialog box.

Set Default BOM Structure for a component

  1. Open the assembly or part.
  2. Click Tools tab Options panel Document Settings to display the Document Settings dialog box.
  3. On the Bill of Materials tab, set the Default BOM Structure value.
  4. Click Reference. The BOM Structure value for the selected instance is set to Reference, until you repeat this procedure and select Default.
Note: To set up the BOM Structure for an In-Place component, in the Create In-Place Component dialog box, set the default BOM Structure.

Override the BOM Structure for an instance of component

  1. Instance-based override supports skeleton assemblies and other construction geometry workflows. You can set instances of a component to have a BOM Structure of Reference.
  2. To override the BOM Structure for an instance of an assembly component, select the component instance in the Assembly Browser, and right-click.
  3. From the menu, select BOM Structure.
  4. Select a new value for the structure attribute.
Tip: To override the setting for multiple components, select the components in the browser, right-click, and then select BOM Structure to set the BOM Structure.
Note: Components with BOM Structure set to Reference are not included in the BOM.

Set BOM Structure attributes in the BOM Editor

You can use the BOM Editor to change the structure attributes for assembly components.
