Recognize Extrude, Revolve, Sweep

Use Recognize Extrude, Recognize Revolve, and Recognize Sweep to convert features to Extrusions, Revolutions, and Sweeps that are recognized in Revit.

Access

• On the ribbon:
  • In a part (.ipt) file: Environment tab Begin panel Recognize Revit Features
  • In a part (.ipt) file: BIM tab BIM Ready Content panel, select Recognize Revit Features
  • In the Recognize Revit Features dialog box, specify whether you want to preserve the Inventor features already recognized by Revit or whether you want to convert them back to base solids, and then select OK to continue.

    If you choose to preserve the Inventor features already recognized by Revit, these features will be saved and hidden as you continue to recognize Revit features from the remaining base solid geometry.

    If you choose to convert Inventor features already recognized by Revit back to base solids you will no longer have any features that are recognized by Revit. Choose this option if you need to start over. For example, if you have created Inventor features and are having difficulty getting them translated to Revit (for example, Check Revit Features reports errors), you can create a base solid and recognize new Revit features.

  • In the Recognize Revit Features tab Recognize Revit Features panel, select Recognize Extrude, Recognize Revolve or Recognize Sweep.
    Note: To access in an assembly file you must first create a simplified part using the commands in the Simplify tab Simplify panel. When you create a simplified part, the part will be opened in the newly created part (.ipt) file.

Apply Recognize Extrude or Recognize Revolve

1. Select the faces that are necessary to be converted and they will turn to a shaded color.
2. Next, click to apply and continue.
3. Click to finish.

Apply Recognize Sweep

1. Choose Loop, Face, Edge selection type.
2. Select the Start face/loop and then the End face/loop.
3. Select the Swept Face as needed.
4. Click to apply and continue.
5. Click to finish.
Note: Sweep Blends are not supported in the Recognize Revit Features toolset.

Note: After completing recognition the feature will ghost itself to denote it has been converted. In addition, a new feature will be created in the browser.
