Before you begin
- Back up the .idw files you want to convert to Autodesk Inventor LT .dwg.
- To access files stored on a server, you can map the network drive locally or user UNC path directly.
- Verify that your files resolve and open correctly in the existing version of Autodesk Inventor LT. Repair resolution and general problems before you proceed.
- Close all versions of Autodesk Inventor LT.
Convert IDW to DWG
- In the Autodesk Inventor LT Task Scheduler window, click Convert IDW to DWG
. The information in the task list switches to show any Convert IDW to DWG tasks you saved previously.
- In the Autodesk Inventor LT Task Scheduler window, right-click, and select Create Task
Convert IDW to DWG.
- Click Add Files or Add Folder.
If you select Add Folder, to include subfolders, click the corresponding level of the Recursive column.
If necessary, repeat the steps to add more files and folders.
- In the Output Folder and Output File Name columns, you can change the default. You can click Browse in the box to browse to a folder or file.
- In the Task Properties box, enter a task name and a time-out threshold.
- Specify a schedule, or select the Immediately option.
Note: You can use the Task Scheduler while you run Autodesk Inventor LT. For optimal performance, close all Autodesk Inventor LT sessions before you run a task and do not start a session while a task is running.
- In Log File, leave the checkbox selected for the default located in Documents and Settings\(user name)\Local Settings\Temp\Task Scheduler.log.

- To overwrite the default, enter a file name . If the log file does not exist, a log file unique to the task is created.
- Click Browse to find and select an existing file.
- To specify no log file, clear the checkbox.
- Click OK.
If it is the first task you create during the current session, the Authentication dialog box is displayed. Enter your Microsoft Windows log in name and password.
The task is displayed in the task list. You can close the Autodesk Inventor LT Task Scheduler window. The task runs as scheduled.
The log file reflects the success or problems in the conversion.
